The ‘President’ model

This Mezuzah case was awarded to President of Israel Yitzhak Herzog and his wife on their first official visit to Samaria.

Three styles of masonry from different periods were used in the design of this mezuzah holder, symbolizing the three waves of Israelite settlement throughout history: the period of Joshua bin Nun, the Hasmonean era, and the current era beginning with the Six-Day War.

“Shall I not be tender to thy stones and kiss them/And the taste of thy soil be sweeter than honey unto me
(“Yafe Nof,” a poem by Rabbi Yehuda Halevi, translated by Nina Salaman)

The love and yearning for the Land of Israel and its stones is reflected in verses in the Pentateuch and the Books of the Prophets and in the liturgical poems of Jewish sages of all generations.
The stone mezuzah welcomes those entering. It expresses a Jew’s love and longing for his country.

The letter “Shin” on the mezuzah is specially designed by the artist, and is coated in 24- carat gold.
